Many ways beyond writing a check

Reliable networks need trusted humans at block scale—students, retirees, allied nonprofits, GIS nerds, and patient storytellers.

Volunteering your time

Money keeps the lights on; people keep the network humane. Volunteers help with pilot days, resident-facing events, logistics, and the small tasks that make digital equity programs feel welcoming—not only technical work.

  • Community & events: setup/teardown, registration tables, wayfinding, translation or plain-language support, photography or video (with consent training and clear boundaries).
  • Logistics & ops: inventorying kits, labeling gear, light data entry, driving supplies between hubs when needed, and ad hoc project support coordinated by staff.
  • Neighbor-to-neighbor: trusted locals who can repeat accurate information, accompany residents through intake steps, or follow up after installs—always under program supervision and privacy rules.

We match you to what is actually needed in the current phase (sometimes that is “not yet”). Expect a short orientation, clear time windows, and a single coordinator so you are not bounced between inboxes. Paid student pathways run through our Digital Navigators program; pro bono specialties use the separate email below.
